Homecoming

a group exhibit

02 AUGUST - 19 SEPTEMBER 2026

Artist name

"AS OUR PAST, EXHIBITING ARTISTS GREW, THEIR HOME GALLERY GREW WITH THEM."

New & returning guests, welcome to the Emily Monk Davidson Gallery (EMD) at the Farmville Community Arts Council (FCAC), we are pleased to present Homecoming, an alumni exhibition running from August 2 through September 19.
Four years ago, we opened our formal exhibition space with a simple goal: to build a dedicated stage for local visual artists. Today, this show brings back the foundational creatives who helped lay that first metaphorical brick.

Homecoming is more than a retrospective. It is a visual conversation about return, progress, and the shared journey between an arts organization and the town it calls home.
While our returning alumni have spent the last four years pushing their creative boundaries, earning accolades, and refining their techniques, FCAC strived to match their momentum by continuing to evolve the operational infrastructure. Over the past year alone, our organization has continued to mature:

  • Executive Direction: A new Operations Director took the helm last year to guide our long-term sustainability.

  • Focused Expertise: We established dedicated positions for both a Gallery Manager and a Theater Manager to give every event the care it deserves.

  • Fresh Perspective: New Board Members joined our leadership team, injecting fresh energy and oversight into our mission.

  • Community Access: Through a dedicated volunteer planning committee, we extended our public gallery hours and continue to optimize our day-to-day operations.

As our past, exhibiting artists grew, their home gallery grew with them. Every participating creator has selected at least two original pieces for display and sale, featuring both fresh studio work and pivotal past pieces. By offering these works for purchase, we directly reinvest in the creative livelihoods of Eastern North Carolina. These artists are not distant figures in a catalog. They are our neighbors, our educators, and the cultural ambassadors of Pitt County. Their achievements reflect the success of Farmville as a whole.

We invite long-time supporters and first-time visitors alike to step into the gallery, experience this collection of work, and take home a piece of local history.
